Implant Treatment

Implants are screws mostly made of titanium that are placed for treatment purposes to replace lost teeth, fuse with bone tissue over time, and can function like a natural tooth. They are typically applied to the jawbone in cases of tooth loss due to age-related bone loss, tooth decay, or wear over time, serving as the root of the lost tooth. Afterwards, teeth that can perform chewing function are applied on top of the implants.

Who is Implant Suitable For?

  • In cases of single tooth loss (following tooth extraction)
  • In individuals who have lost multiple teeth
  • In cases of complete tooth loss due to advanced age
  • In individuals with healthy oral tissues
  • In individuals with sufficient jawbone dimensions
  • When jawbone loss after tooth extraction is not advanced
  • In individuals without chronic immune system disorders
  • In individuals without excessive teeth grinding habits

Why is Implant Done?

  • Protects the health of other teeth and tissues (in single tooth loss, there's no need to grind down adjacent teeth).
  • Increases the retention of dentures in individuals using complete dentures.
  • Reduces denture movement in the mouth.
  • Acts as a natural tooth root, increasing chewing force.

What are the Advantages of Implant?

  • Implant provides much better chewing function compared to other bridges and dentures.
  • It is superior in terms of aesthetics and durability.
  • Frees you from the necessity and difficulty of using removable dentures; in this regard, implant helps restore confidence in people who previously used removable dentures.
  • Jawbone resorption decreases thanks to implants.
  • Eliminates the necessity of grinding natural teeth for bridge work.
  • Provides more natural and aesthetic results compared to bridge dentures as it supports gum and bone.
  • Enables healthier and more balanced nutrition through implants.

How is Implant Applied?

Implants can be applied to the jawbone under local anesthesia in one session, or in several sessions if they are numerous. Implant application does not cause pain in a healthy individual during the procedure.

When are Teeth Ready After Implant?

After the implant is placed in the jawbone, a healing and fusion period with the bone (osseointegration) is needed. This is about 2-3 months for the lower jaw and 3-4 months for the upper jaw. After this period, the construction of teeth on the implants can begin.
